This Father's Day, we pause to reflect on the experiences and insights of our CEO, Guy Bucey. His journey as both a father and a leader is intricately tied to our mission of innovating modern Murphy beds, including designs like the Murphy bed with sofa and Murphy bed with desk.
Building a Foundation of Leadership and Compassion
"Inovabed is a wall bed furniture manufacturer on the surface, but really what we are truly doing is growing our people in our company and providing a product that creates solutions to people’s everyday needs," says Guy Bucey. This philosophy mirrors the values he upholds as a father. Just as he nurtures the growth and development of his team, he also strives to instill these qualities in his children.
Guy's journey is rooted in his eight years of service in the Marine Corps as an Infantry Machine Gunner. "As Marines, we're all taught to be leaders and it is the foundation of my skill set for leading," he explains. His military experience equipped him with a strong sense of leadership, but it was fatherhood that introduced him to the importance of compassion and thoughtfulness. "Through that experience, I have at times been pretty hard and not so understanding during my initial years at Inovabed. Becoming a father during that time really helped me to be more compassionate and thoughtful as a leader and has helped me continue to learn and grow, something I'm not sure I would have learned if it weren't for my children."
